Gouge 8L/30 is 10 1/2 in length. They have been stored away ever since and were only discovered and taken out of storage a couple of years ago. Since rediscovered, they have been handled, looked at, and passed from person to person but none of them have ever been used. There are some small spots of surface rust on their chrome - vanadium surfaces which is to be expected from tools of this age. I have not taken any action to scrape or sand or grind any of them but it is evident that it would not take long to get them honed and shined to brilliance as they are already pretty dang nice looking and sharp as heck.

The plastic sleeves that they came in have received little cuts from the tools being slipped in and taken out. A few weeks ago, a puppy got ahold of the 7/35 chisel and chewed on the wooden handle (please see photos). A small amount of damage to the handle was sustained in the puppy attack. Luckily, the damage is not enough to effect the handle's performance. Swiss made Pfeil chisels come sharpened and are completely ready for use, regular honing is recommended to maintain the best edge for carving.

They are constructed with a chrome vanadium alloy that is made to Pfeil's own specifications. THIS L O T I N C L U D E S : 1. Gouge 8/35 Is an 8 MM medium gouge with a straight shank, and is capable of removing good amounts of material, while shaping with detail as a result of its width and depth.

21 Dog Leg is a straight edged chisel with a dog leg (open Z-bent)shaft to enable finishing rectangular depressions. 7 gouge Pfeil Number 7 chisel features a concave profile. This is a medium gouge with a straight shank, offering width and depth. 7A is a spoon bent; deep gouge.
