Antique Edison Standard Cylinder Phonograph w 2/4 Minute Gearing & Two Reproducers. From a recent estate sale we are pleased to offer for sale this very nice Edison Model B two minute Standard cylinder phonograph with 2/4 minute gearing upgrade.
The serial number is S337361 and the last patent date is Nov. Included is a model C reproducer for 2 minute wax records and a model H reproducer for 4 minute records. In 1908 with the introduction of 4 minute records, Edison made available an upgrade to the gearing for the 2 minute only machines that changes the gearing to enable them to play either 2 or 4 minute records by adjusting the small rod on the left side of the gear box (pull out for 4 minute and push in for 2 minute records). In order to play the new 4 minute records, you would also have to replace the original Model C reproducer with a 4 minute reproducer. This is easily done in a matter of minutes by loosening a small screw on the carriage that holds the reproducer. This machine plays very well with both of the reproducers.All parts of the playing mechanism are in very good condition. You can hear it play both a 2 minute and 4 minute record by going to YouTube and searching for - spiceberry1 cylinder player. The oak case is in nice condition except for a few small chips in the veneer and it has the highly desirable banner decal. The case including the lid measures 13" wide x 9 1/2" deep x 11 1/4 tall and the machine weighs about 20 pounds.
The original metal horn is also included but does show some minor corrosion and wear. It measures 16 including the rubber coupler. It is getting hard to find machines in this nice working condition so don't miss out. Six records are included (3 2-minute wax and 3 4-minute blue Amberol) that have all been tested and play well. Be sure to always use the correct reproducer and gearing according to what record you are playing to avoid damaging the records.
The records are in cases but no lids. This machine really has everything. The case is small and easy to handle and it has the banner decal; there are two reproducers to play both two and four minute records; it has the original horn and it is in great cosmetic and playing condition so don't miss out.
