It is the actual steering wheel from the life-size working version of the Evel Knievel stunt and crash car. The Stunt and Crash Car was shown at many of Evel's jumps from Kings Island Ohio in October of 75 the Kingdome in Seattle in November of 76 in the 1977 movie Viva Knievel and other places including parades Evel was in in that era.
Ideal toys produced the toy version of the stunt and crash car. Several years ago after Evel passed away my friend Gerald Scheffler bought the actual Stunt and Crash from Kelly Knievel. Gerald's intentions were to have it fully restored as he began working on the project because he's a friend of mine he gave me the original steering wheel. The steering wheel comes with everything you see here a certificate of authenticity signed by Gerald himself a signed copy of the Sports Illustrated magazine with Evel on the cover from 1974 and a picture of the car from a scene in Viva Knievel. Gerald later made a deal with the Wayne Newton Museum in Las Vegas who bought the car and eventually had it restored to its original new condition.
You can also see in the pictures the steering wheel in the car before Gerald removed it and give it to me. This is a 100% authentic piece of Evel Knievel history owned by Evel shown to fans around the country during his hayday. Would make an awesome piece to anyone's collection who's looking for something other than the normal toys and other memorabilia you see. If properly mounted would make a great conversation piece in anyone's collection or man cave.Note in one of the pictures it is of the car actually flying apart when it was first built to be a life size working vehicle just like the toys.
