The Thunderegg in the first photo has been cut to show an example of what these eggs can contain. This listing however is not for cut eggs. The majority of these are still whole with little agate showing on the outside, but some have naturally broke in the middle with beautiful scenes showing. Photos are taken with the stones wet. This helps you see their potential once polished.
These are raw stones, the majority are uncut and unpolished. Lucky Strike Thundereggs were originally found by an old time rockhound, Leonard Kopcinski, that went by the name of Kop. Having grown up in Mitchell Oregon myself, I was lucky to have gotten the privilege of growing up knowing him.Lucky Strike Thundereggs are well known for their gorgeous mossy patterns, high rate of agate, and the potential for plume. They tend to take a great polish and make amazing display thundereggs once cut.
They are very popular in stores and also with kids. They are mined in the Ochoco Mountains of Central Oregon.
These are mostly old stock Luckystrike Thundereggs, though some from modern digs may be included. All in this listing are random pull. One pound is often about one or two thundereggs, but can sometimes be more or less.
These need to be cut with a lapidary slab saw to show their true beauty. There are multiple sizes available. If you are looking for a certain size, or have a certain purpose you want us to select for, please message us or add notes to the order and we will do our best to accommodate those requests!
