US Military Stein Collection 250+ Steins   US Military Stein Collection 250+ Steins
I have been collecting all types of German made steins for the past 30 years. There are 250 plus US Military steins, all in the standard post WWII German-made porcelain body, most with a lithopane, the odd one that came with music box or no lithopane. Not all the pewter lids are perfect. Some have bent or missing finials, gun barrels etc.

I have not tried to alter or repair any of the lids. 124 steins have pewter lids, some without finial, some with, some with finial missing. 95 steins have the chromed pointed pot-metal lid with no finial. Some of the chromed pot metal lids have oxidized.

37 steins have no lids. Earliest date for the collection is 1949 with the latest date being 2000 or so. Most are attributed to a certain individuals, military and non- military, some have had the names removed, some are not named, some are not dated.

Three have been glued together, preserved because they are attributed and dated. Most are in "as found " condition. Service personnel tend to move frequently at a moments notice and modern military steins tend to be treated roughly. I did not get around to repairing the lids with missing finials- no time. I just got around to preparing a room to house my US, Canadian and German Military steins. With a bit of effort, those steins that are missing finials or lids could be restored to their original condition. As they are, they display quite nicely as the listing photos show. Ictures show 6 shelves with 186 steins displayed. First shelf has 36 steins that date from 1949 to 1960. The next three shelves have 90+ steins that date from 1960 to 1970.

The last two have 56 or so steins that date from 1970 to 2000. The first 3 pictures supplied show the top three shelves moving left to right.

The last 3 pictures show the bottom three shelves left to right. The rest of the steins offered (aprox 90+). 37 have no lids and have various dates and are unsorted as yet. My collection is more of a cross-section of the other ranks, from Officers and NCO's to non-military or contract personnel from USAF , Army or Navy.

IN MY OPINION, ANY INDIVIDUAL THAT SERVED IN THE ARMED FORCES AND HAVE A STEIN COMMEMORATING THAT SERVICE MAKE THAT STEIN "ONE OF A KIND " AND WORTH COLLECTING. Some steins included with the collection are the right form with lids but are not specifically military related. Those I bought with the intention/plan to transfer the lids to the appropriate military stein. More info on lid types.

I will help with organizing and packing. I have some already in boxes- bulk paper boxes that will accept 8 steins or so each. So approximately 30+ boxes would be required with some sort of wrap. I have had quite a few enquiries about specific steins from other collectors.

Most collectors tend to concentrate on certain units, bases or areas of operation. Feel free to drop me a line to see if I have any that fall into your collecting area. I will keep any enquiries and area of interest on file for future consideration. Bear in mind that the steins offered are not my entire collection. I have 20 or so that I want to keep but may be willing to part with to the right collector.
